MADIDI NATIONAL PARK - BOLIVIA
(P1) CULLPANA PROGRAM
FULL DAY
Rurrenabaque - Madidi National Park – Rurrenabaque
08:30: Departure by motorboat from Rurrenabaque to the Madidi National Park. The trip upstream Beni and Tuichi Rivers takes 3 hours and is a great opportunity to see the fauna and impressive landscape of the Amazon, such as the Bala Canyon.
10:30: On the way to the ecolodge we will visit Caquiahuara where, after a short hike, you will be able to observe the nesting wall used by the red and green macaws and other species of parrots. The best season to see more bird species is between May and December. The trip then continues to the Madidi Jungle Ecolodge.
12:30: Arrival to the ecolodge and lunch time. After lunch we set out on a hike along the Wabu Trail, arriving at salt lick, locally known as “Cullpana”. This is a special area in the rainforest where various animals gather to take in important mineral salts. Also in this area some animals use the mud pools as bathing areas. This trail offers the possibility to observe the white-lipped peccary, red howler monkey, brown capuchin monkey, toucan, guans, and many different birds. Return to the ecolodge along the Tuichi Trail.
15:30: Return to Rurrenabaque. The boat trip back to the town takes only 2 hours.
17:30: Arrival in Rurrenabaque. Transfer to your hotel or the airport.
NB: Please note this program is flexible and we are happy to discuss any special requirements with you.
